Day 1

Arrival in Lhasa


Morning


• Arrive at Lhasa Gonggar Airport or Lhasa Railway Station.

• Transfer to your hotel in Lhasa (1–1.5 hours).

• Rest and acclimatize to the high altitude. Avoid strenuous activities.


Afternoon


Barkhor Street

A traditional Tibetan market.


• Walk the Barkhor Kora (pilgrimage circuit) around Jokhang Temple and observe Tibetan Buddhist customs.


• Time: 1.5-2 hours.


Evening


• Enjoy Tibetan butter tea at a local teahouse.

Day 2

Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple


Morning


Potala Palace

The iconic former winter palace of the Dalai Lamas.


• Explore its chapels, ancient murals, and views of Lhasa city.


• Time: 2-3 hours.


Afternoon


Jokhang Temple

Tibet’s holiest temple.


• Learn about its history and observe Buddhist rituals.


• Stroll around Barkhor Street again for souvenirs or cultural insights.


• Time: 1.5-2 hours.


Evening


• Free time for relaxation. Consider trying a Tibetan-style dinner.

Day 3

Norbulingka and Drepung Monastery


Morning


Norbulingka

The summer palace of the Dalai Lamas.


• Walk through its peaceful gardens and learn about Tibetan history.


• Time: 1.5-2 hours.


Afternoon


Drepung Monastery

Once the largest monastery in Tibet.


• Explore its halls and study the life of Tibetan monks.


• Time: 2-3 hours.


Evening


• Enjoy a quiet evening to rest or explore local dining options.

Day 4

Yamdrok Lake and Gyantse


Morning


Yamdrok Lake

Take a scenic drive to Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet’s sacred lakes.


• Stop at viewpoints for photos and enjoy the breathtaking turquoise waters.


• Time: 2-3 hours.


Afternoon


Gyantse Kumbum

Continue to Gyantse to visit Gyantse Kumbum (1–1.5 hours), a stupa with exquisite murals and chapels.


• Time: 2 hours.


Evening


• Overnight in Gyantse. Relax at your hotel.

Day 5

Shigatse and Tashilhunpo Monastery


Morning


Shigatse

• Drive to Shigatse (2 hours).


Tashilhunpo Monastery

The seat of the Panchen Lama.


• Time: 1.5-2 hours.


Afternoon


• Explore the surrounding areas and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

• Return to Lhasa (4–5 hours).


Evening


• Free time in Lhasa to relax after the long drive.

Departure from Lhasa
